I’ll be boarding a plane ride to Minneapolis in a short 24 hours without the parents to attend a leadership conference/camp held by the Vietnamese Culture & Science Association (VCSA). The all expense paid trip will encourage Vietnamese youth to build a larger social network while strengthening and developing leadership skills needed through their lifetime.
To be honest, I don’t know if I’m excited to attend or not. I am most definitely excited to be away from the parents for the four days and visit Mall of America, but the thought of having possibly another 200 people at one campsite kind of freaks me out. As a bonus, I get to meet a Vietnamese former linebacker for the Dallas Cowboys~
My dude did let me borrow his sweater for the trip though, so I think I will be okay~ :3

When I go to hang out with my guy friends:
Friday, May 18th
Spent time with my little brother as my sister worked and my parents had their date. We visited our past homes and got lost in the midst of it all. It was strange how much that part of town changed, and how many buildings were erected when we lived our lives in a different area.
Achievement of that day: Went on the highway notorious for car accidents, albeit being in the slow lane. GPS on my phone was used.
Saturday, May 19th
Left the house at noon to eat brunch with friends. Played pool, then went to bowl. I was a little sad that my dude wasn’t going to karaoke, but a change of events allowed him to go to a Korean dinner with us and join in on the group singing.
Achievement of that day: Had my first soju shot and realized that it doesn’t matter how embarrassing the dude is, I really like him. ><
Sunday, May 20th
Crazy day at work. Account Executive was breathing down my neck trying to make sales. My co-worker and I surpassed our targets and left for home a little bitter that we worked over time.
Achievement of that day: Kept it cool under pressure.

A timeline.

She says “A 17 year old girl who has never been kissed […]” as if it’s so rare.
I haven’t had my first kiss and I’m 20! So sad. hahaha
Had my first kiss when I’m 20.
It was… really nice. The more I think about it, the more I liked how it went.
He went on my doorstep about to ring the doorbell when I opened the door. It was awkward but we started talking and things started to calm down. I like his sense of humor and how attentive he is to my personality and habits. He was loser enough to not prepare and used his iPhone to locate the sushi restaurant downtown.
He’s a cutie but mature. He knows when to be funny and when to be serious. We were able to talk about the ‘forbidden first date’ (i.e. politics, love, relationships, religion) topics and discussed philosophical terms. I’m able to connect with him in a way that I wouldn’t be able to with others.
And then… one thing happened that made me gush like a loser. I asked him what type of music he listens to. He said ‘Everything but particularly piano’, and then he whips out his phone to play the theme to “Howl’s Moving Castle”. LIKE DAMN. SERIOUSLY. The conversation continues and it’s obvious that we have the same mindset…

Your phone is your worst enemy when you’re expecting a text from a (potentially) special person.
Don’t know if I should be crying or smiling…
But I arrived home at 2:30AM.
Yes. 2:30AM.
“Look out! We’ve got a bad ass on our hands!”
